south east Indiana | I agree try to make it relatable for him so he can see the point and how much school work /learning will help him on the farm. Some kids learn by Doing so it is hard for them to sit still with a book. Might find some learning activities for him; on the net, check out Kahn academy on the net, maybe camp of some type I would talk to a bunch of teachers and see if they are aware of opportunities.
I had a great young boy in the 2 room school I helped with in SD. He was a ranch kid big time. He did not see the importance of school and his parents did not emulate that importance either. He also was a bit behind the other kids and that made him self conscious so he would avoid reading ect where the other kids could hear him. It helped a bunch when we would read "cool books " together, him a page - me a page. | |
