Subject: RE: Church closing

Rolla, ND
It depends on a lot of things from the construction and such of the church to what, if any opportunities there are in the area.

Some people just buy and convert them to a house. Depends on size, insulation, heating and so on.

I've also seen them as bed and breakfasts. Works sometimes, though usually I'd say not.

Also some close to population centers have actually been more successful as a place to have a wedding than as a place to have a congregation. Seen a couple of churches save themselves through special event outreach. Thing is you need the right situation like brides saying there is no place to have a wedding if you haven't booked it a year in advance and things like that.

Otherwise, the thing that seems the most painful at the time but is likely the least painful over time is tear it down.

Cemetary is tough. No real way to guarantee anything. Maybe the town or county or township maintains it. More likely is some person does it at least for awhile.
