Subject: It won't matter where they are bolted together

The Internet

I don't think bolting a few tractors together makes a mature economy like the US much money. Deere is still run in the US and will pay its tax in the US. It's is the intellectual side of the business that makes the money. Companies first responsibility is to their shareholders they need to stay in profit to stay in business. If they don't look to lower their operating costs they will become uncompetitive and ultimately fail. The manufacturing side of the business is not where they make their money.

If their 5000 series has its main market in India, it make far more sense to build it there and ship the few they sell in the US to the US. If they built them in Waterloo or Mannheim they would be far too expensive for their target audience.

Don't worry about shipping out a relatively small number of manufacturing jobs, The West make much more money with finance and other sectors that require the use of brain power than doing things that get peoples hands dirty and fills shipping containers.
