Statesville, NC | The 5000 series were never what I would call "made" in Georgia, even from the beginning. They were just assembling major components in Georgia. The reason for the black frame was the components were coming from so many different places they couldn't get all the different green paints to match. Black is black, so there is no problem if the components are from different paint lines. On the very first 5000 series the engine was French, the front axle was Italian, a lot of linkage from Spain.
