Subject: IL corn acre predictions are problematic

USA
Things don't add up

NASS is predicting about 17% more planted soybean acres in IL this year vs 2014. Corn planted acres unchanged from 2013.

Not going to get an argument from me on the bean acre increase, but those extra acres had to come from somewhere. Driving around sure looks like not as many fields of corn this year. If half the extra bean acres came from 2013 corn acres = 6.5%.less corn acres in 2014

6.5% of 200 bu IL ave yield = 13 bu acre

@ 190 = 12 bu.

Edit
http://www.nass.usda.gov/Statistics_by_State/Illinois/Publications/...

Think need new glasses and calculator the acre bean increase is about 7 % instead of 17% , if half those acres = about 2.5 %

5 bu acre on corn @ 200 bu state ave.
