Subject: RE: IL corn acre predictions are problematic

USA
PP is one those deals that is hard to get a clear cut answer on how they are handled in the big picture.

NASS is predicting harvested corn acres in IL @ 100,000 less in 14 vs 13, on the same amount of planted acres both years.

They lowered planted corn acres in 2013 200,000 from the starting prediction.

125 wheat + 70 CRP+ 100 more corn HA ( 2013) =295 ,000

plug in 200 from original planting intentions = 395,000

NASS is predicting bean harvest acres @ 630, 000 more in 14 vs 13, planted @ 650,000

650,000- 295,000 = 355,000 acres that came from somewhere.

650,000- 395,000 = 255,000 or little over 2 % of 12 million.

355,000 is is about 3 % of 12 million.

2-3 % planted acre error on the us corn crop @ 170 bu yield =300-450 million bu.
