Spring Grove MN
We tried aerial seeding last year. It was a bust - no rain = no germ or growth. We did seed runs with a drill the first week of November (cereal rye). There was a little fuzz before it frozen for the winter. The spring growth was good. Sprayed it off at 6" or so before planting. There was no erosion this spring (we got lots of rain) where we did this. We only did the bean ground (figured the 100% residue covered corn ground would be fine). The corn ground washed and eroded some. We will be doing all water runs (corn & bean ground) this fall. We will not be aerial seeding again. We purchased a no-till drill and will be chasing the combine from now on (or until we figure a better method).
