I would be surprised if any bankers would call loans now, but they may be trying to get in line ahead of.....John Deere, unsecured landlords, unsecured coops, unsecured seed companies, etc, etc. If they called the loan now and took possession of the crop and equipment, the borrower couldn't sell the crop and pay off the unsecured creditors before the bank. That's the only logical thing I can think of. Bank could demand for all checks to be made co-payable and accomplish the same thing with less fanfare. Some untrustworthy borrowers would try to get around it, but if they are that untrustworthy, the bank shouldn't have lent to them in the first place.
