E.Central MN
We had an old shed to remove, parts of the roof had fallen in. So we talked to the county official about it and he said if the shingles are all broken up and its not safe to remove them due to the buildings structural problems then we could burn it. But we decided to get a dumpster and remove the shingles if we could. It didn't take long once we knocked the walls out and the roof was on the ground. We used a sawzall with a demolition blade and cut the roof into pieces that fit the dumpster. A few swings with a sledge hammer knocked the roof purlins loose so that we just had layers of 3/4" roof boards with shingles attached. The wood structure (purlins, beams, etc) was burned in an outdoor wood stove, why waste all those btu's.
