Western Ky.
Are you in continuous corn, or a corn/soybean rotation? If you are in a corn/soybean rotation Why not try notilling soybeans into the standing corn stalks on a few acres next spring. I can find no yield advantage for soybeans following corn by doing anything to the corn stalks. We simply notill into the standing stalks at a ninety degree angle. I actually want the stalks left as tall as possible resulting in less residue on the ground for the spring sunlight to penetrate and the drill to have to cut through.
I realize this is not related to the answers you were looking for so take it for what it cost.
