Bought the ecm 10 years ago, so chances are it's an expensive paperweight by now,if your right about the battery. Actually used the Cat part no. on the label of the original
to order it through a Cat earthmoving dealer rather than Agco as it was considerably cheaper. They must use the same ecm in other equipment, I was able to get the current firmware from an Agco dealer and had a local Cat technician load it onto the ecm. If I was you I'd be tracking down the other terminator, sounds like you have a Challenger mechanic with half a clue so hopefully he knows or can find out it's location. There is always a terminator at either end of a Canbus.
