Near-north Ontario, French River
I'm not convinced turkeys are as smart as some claim. Dad and I were able to drive a pick-up to within 20 yards of a lone turkey this spring. Just the other day traffic had to stop on a major county road because of flock( if that's the right term) was walking on the road. I know several guys that hunt turkeys every year, I don't know a single turkey hunter who doesn't fill his tag every year. Maybe they haven't been around long enough around here ( re-introduced 6-7 yrs ago), but the ones I've seen certainly rank right up there with partridge/grouse in terms of intelligence.
