According to what the pastor told him, he didn't even know the guy had any cows. So it's unlikely they ever smelled a whiff of cow manure. I guess I'd check with the local fire marshall and see what the ordinances are for fireworks, it could be that they violated some of the rules. At the very least it might prevent them from doing something so stupid in the future.
