Rolla, ND
The first place to check in in the boot of the leg.

The corn should be feeding into the cups and not the boot, so the grain should be entering into a fairly narrow openning a ways up the side of the leg when the cups are going up.

The leg is centrifigal discharge on the top and it actually does the same thing on the bottom in the boot so you don't want any grain in the boot ideally. The grain keeps getting thrown and thrown and the cups keep chewing through.

You even see people feeding the backside of grain legs because it's easier in their setup but that will really crack corn.

I'd look at that even before the big slide on top.

If you pull a sample right at the top of the bin, you could see if the corn is already cracked or if the fall is making the fines but I'm betting it's already ground up.
