| You forgot to mention probably the best Microsoft alternative success story, Mozilla Firefox, a program which currently receives anywhere from 1/5-1/3 of the browser market share, and is (almost) universally favored by computer experts. For what its worth, Microsoft has had luck with competition, but since when did the most popular software become the best? Inevitably they'll use their name and power to get it on a ton of computers, but ultimately it won't be comparable in terms of quality to more tried and true anti-virus programs such as ESET and Kaspersky. The reason? Microsoft has grown accustomed to their position, they don't have to make a good software for it to be popular, as long as it says Microsoft, people will use it.
And as for the WGA, you had a much better time than me, I don't remember what I was installing, but it took me like 20 minutes before I finally gave up, and I assure you my Windows is Genuine. | |
