| I worked at an "old elevator" built in the 60's. The last 10-15 years the company I worked for kept saying "its too costly to keep open" and they deferred maintenance, over and over. Soon it became too unsafe for the cooperate world and was closed down. It needed a ton of work, but a BTO bought it and added a dryer and is using it to house Enogen. They made some upgrades, but overall it looks the same, except the dryer.
I am sure they bought it cheap and it has a ton of storage, close to 600k bushels. Had to be cheaper than building that new. But it will need ton of work to keep operating efficiently. I know the distributor was in ROUGH shape, and we broke gears in the system a ton..... major pain. But it can be done. | |
