CENTRAL ILLINIOS | Problems with an old elevator:
1. They are too slow by today's standards(legs, dryers, reclaim drags/augers) - one or two combines can put out more bushels per hour than some of those old legs can take
2. Repairs are expensive. Holes in pipes, rusted out boots, wore out augers, electrical upgrades - these all get expensive on a per bushel basis. It costs as much to repair a downspout to a 50000 bu bin as it does for a 100000 bu bin.
3. Many need OSHA upgrades - also expensive
4. Many were built too close to a town - dust and noise
