I guess in your case I'd check how deep you can find moisture, and if optimal depth would plant but make sure the rye got sprayed ASAP. Now mind you dying rye can host all sorts of nasties that hurt corn, but dry ground hurts it too...

In-furrow probably won't get enough N especially, so may have to side dress very early. "Here" I won't put the corn in the ground unless 50-60+ units N going down with it applied 3" to the side with the planter.
