In the last month we have sold 300 steers and 100 heifers for the exact same reasons. Let me tell you I’m feeling and sleeping better. If the drought holds and the crops don’t come around that’s why we have crop insurance but nothing really for the cattle to protect us.


I do have some insurance on my pasture for lack of moisture. It certainly isn’t enough to cover the cost of replacement feed though.

I have been trying to make things easier and less stressful around here. This would definitely fit into that philosophy.
