So if you sell now you have two possibilities. It rains and you have more forage than you planned, and the cash to buy back in. Or it stays dry and you were the smartest man in the area

If you don’t sell two possibilities are a below average year with the start we’ve had already, or spending money and time to at best break even, possibly lose all of your investment?

I know which way I lean, but it’s your decision.


I think we’re both thinking along the same lines.

We run a closed herd so I wouldn’t be buying back in but I could sell the extra feed if it’s a decent year.

Talked to our auction agent this afternoon and he pulled the pin on a 1/3 of his yearlings. He talks to way more people in the know and over a way bigger area than me.

I see a small possibility of some upside but I see a higher probability of a bigger downside. Maybe it’s the cynic in me talking.
