“These are the times that try men's souls.” | Just my opinion but myself I would rather be proactive in a drought, cattle can come and go. But in my country if we over graze we screw this ground up for 10 years or more. I've sold yearling cattle early one year, because I felt I had to keep all resources for my mother cows. Well I took a thumping on this yearlings because going to keep and breed them. 30 days later rains came and I had plenty of feed to take them to bred coming 2's.
We are holding off selling anything right now, turning cows out but I'm going to cut stocking numbers in one area right now. Fully prepared to cut if we have have to, but it's going to be a blood bath for everyone in this Intermountain area if the rains don't come. |
