I haven’t faced conditions as tough as Todd nor what y’all are facing for awhile. Just that things can change. It seems “here” that the thing to do is to put it in the soil.. maybe it’ll rain.. can’t do any good sitting in the bin.
I didn’t think we would get the stand we did.. it’s out of my hands now.. but you got to give ma nature something to work with.
We will be better off collectively if we raise a crop. Reliable source.. maintain feed and ethanol demand.
We are feeding wheat to cattle.. as of now.. HRW is a feed grain for part of the ration here. We increased wheat acres as the drought was forecast.. it makes more sense on my farm.. even if it becomes a feed grain. Cheaper to grow.. more diversified.. pretty tough once established.. deeper roots.. etc. we’re not at harvest yet.. but looking good for now.
