Subject: RE: Ogallala Aquifer questions ,

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
I live in southwestern part of Nebraska in the Republican river basin. Around 20 years ago new development of wells was ended. Not long after that we have a 9” annual water allocation that we can pump. When that was first put in place we thought that would be a pretty short supply but we have adapted and make it work.
Our water table has stayed steady here. West of us 100 miles the water table has declined 50-100’.
We farm some irrigated ground in Kansas less than 20 miles from me. They have a 12” allocation. They shut down new wells in the 80’s.
I’d say the map of the declines is accurate.
