Guymon, OK | The water is really patchy here. In my immediate neighborhood, a lot of wells dropped off enough that they're no longer economical to pump, and I consider a good well to be one that will hold at 500gpm throughout the season. However, go a few miles east and guys are pumping water like it's going out of style and have been doing it for decades. Center pivots are sure more efficient than furrow irrigation, but they took topography out of the equation so more ground is being irrigated than before. | |
