It varies greatly, depending on hardness of the water. Anywhere from 2-6 ounces per 100 gallons of water.
Basically, you want it to have a little bit of suds on top, but if it foams up so bad, suds are coming out the vent hole, you have more than you need. When in doubt, a little extra is better than not enough, if you don't mind the suds washing out the bed of your truck.
