North Central Illinois | I would disagree that it does not favor either party. As it stands right now it obviously favors the democrats because there is a big chunk of their base who are unable or unwilling to physically go to a polling place. We can argue all day long about whether you should lose your right to vote if you are unwilling to make the effort to physically go to a polling place to cast your vote. The fact is that voting by mail brings more eligible voters into play. That is a win for dems and loss for the Gop because traditionally those in the GOP who are eligible to vote are much more likely to go out an vote than some in the democratic demographic. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I think the more citizens that have a voice heard the better but then again should they have to put at least a little effort into it? | |
