Problem is, before that 30 year note is paid off, those solar panels will need to be replaced, and will probably cost twice what the original panels did.

Several friends installed solar this summer, fairly high end systems. They were told the practical life is about 20 years. And for almost the last 2 weeks they have been covered in snow and produced almost nothing.


Bought a solar system in 2019 no 30 year note. Got $17,000 check from ILL, 30% Fed tax credit, 179 deduction. Could have put money in my pocket on the deal if had signed for a USDA grant, decided not to do that as didn't want to jump through the hoops.
