Last I checked, the majority of large electric utilities are private companies. You don’t have to be a customer of theirs. If you disagree with their operation policies you can disconnect.







Call your electric provider and tell them you are going to switch to someone else . . . let us know how that goes.

By chance I happened to do a college paper that in part dealt with rural electrification. Rather enlightening to find out what went on back then.


In my state I can do that and switch as often as I’d like. I get mail solicitations from competing electric providers every few weeks.

But regardless, nothing requires you to be an electric customer.
