...But, it would be a long payback to go with a 10k tank...

I’m not so sure about that...we have $1.50/gallon in our 10K gallon tank and the first fill saved us roughly $.20/gallon. Second fill saved a nickel at the time, but we are now sitting at $.25/gallon savings vs pump price. This is all clear highway fuel.

Obviously, if you don’t need 10K gallons per year, not much good to you as fuel does have a shelf life...but looks like if we can save $.20/gallon per tanker load and buy 2 loads per year, that’s $.40/gallon per year on a 7200 gallon load. So when divided by the 10K gallon tank, it’s about $.29/ tank gallon per year. That’s a little over a 5 year pay back plus the convenience of having that much fuel on site.

But your mileage may vary...

Edited for mathematical error.

Depends when you buy. Lots of years we never pre buy. I compared to A neighbor Who does buy tankers. In ‘17 our price was the same. In ‘18 they did 10-15 cents better.

Having a tank to by LP by the tanker will save much more per gallon, here.
