I’m not so sure about that...we have $1.50/gallon in our 10K gallon tank and the first fill saved us roughly $.20/gallon. Second fill saved a nickel at the time, but we are now sitting at $.25/gallon savings vs pump price. This is all clear highway fuel.
Obviously, if you don’t need 10K gallons per year, not much good to you as fuel does have a shelf life...but looks like if we can save $.20/gallon per tanker load and buy 2 loads per year, that’s $.40/gallon per year on a 7200 gallon load. So when divided by the 10K gallon tank, it’s about $.29/ tank gallon per year. That’s a little over a 5 year pay back plus the convenience of having that much fuel on site.
But your mileage may vary...
