I use about 5 gal/ac start to finish every year.
I’ll turn that 4 times
I contract 2 turns.
That leaves me hanging for 2 turns cash which usually works out alright as I can take that in chunks as space allows and price dictates. I’ve been know to fill cash price and carry contracted gallons out as far as I can.
Limits risk and also allows for swing lows
Also about 1/3 of my acres are near my suppliers HQ and they have red diesel sometimes cheaper yet. So I’ll swing thru and fill direct off the pipe as well if price is better than contract.
I’m currently setting at about $1.60 avg for 2021 needs with 3 turns covered between contract and cash fill. I’ll need that 4 turn by fall. So I’ll either risk it till then or full on turn sometime when tanks are dry.
