If you are going to dart the heifer, she needs to be as calm as possible before and after being darted.
I had a steer that I had to dart. He was all worked up when we got close enough to dart him and it took forever for the dart to work. During the time it took the dart to work he went through 2 fences into a neighbors pasture.
