I'm not too far west of carlson. I have planted zero rye and wont until it cools off this fall. ZERO submoisture. We have had NO rain since early august. I will plant it late enough that we dont get a late heat wave after it sprouts and then have it die. Or we catch a decent rain and I plant it after into some moisture. I have had rye die this time of year in drought conditions. Dont need the extra practice of planting into POOR conditions. I'm fine with it emerging just fine next spring. NOT with it dying this fall.
