Subject: Rye, give up?

Beresford, SD
Dryer than a popcorn fart here. Zero top or subsoil moisture....basically flour 4 feet deep. Have been waiting on a good rain for 45 days to drill some rye where I cut corn silage. Give up and put drill away? Planned on grazing rye off next spring and planting beans. Nervous about drill leaving soil disturbed and rye not starting. Water erosion is not a concern, but wind erosion is.
