I believe that could be overcome with covercrop adjustments. That might even be a reason to do it.


I'm trying to figure out if cowpeas, snap beans, and field pea are alternate hosts for soybean pests and pathogens. They are showing promise in my plot, but I'd be inclined to mix the peas with other species as they are stalling out.

My couple rows of winter squash look promising too, but I don't have a developed market. I'm also a little concerned that one variety is climbing the corn and may set 7-10 lb fruits up high and bring the corn down. Squash has feed value equivalent to corn on a dry matter basis, so any I can't use or sell can be left in the field for the sheep to clean up.
