Our main adjustments to reduce the yield drag this season are:

north-south row orientation
better hybrid selection
sidedress application of N
mowing of soybeans

Another factor that certainly matters is planting date... 6/3 and 6/4 (the planting dates for our 2 solar corridor experiments this year) are definitely too late for optimal capture of sunlight... but were the first dates possible because of excessive rainfall the second half of May.

regarding row spacing, we are a very low budget operation and are not likely to build or buy specialized equipment just for investigating how to optimize solar corridors.
