If I buy a small flour mill/grinder, and grind my own flour from my own wheat, would that be as useful for pies and bread as the bags u can buy at the store. Wondering if there is more to flour than ground wheat, are there additives that make it rise? Does anybody else do Tunisia at home? Thanks for any insight.
Flour is just ground wheat. But it's not the whole kernel. You need to bolt (sift) the flour. This removes the gritty bran from the flour. Once this is done you pretty much have all purpose flour.
You can use the bran as a hot cereal. |
