Michigan's Thumb
I heat 1200sq with a gas hot water heater and it barely runs. I am heating the water from 62-64° to 125° on the outlet side. I keep my man cave/barn 62°, I have 2" foam board and plastic under the cement with 2" foam board 2' down around the perimeter. The side falls have 2" of spray foam with 1/2" foam board underneath and R44 in the ceiling. I'm not sure what is normal but I've been out there for 2-2.5 hrs and it never runs and when it runs it's only for 5-10 minutes most of the time. The hot water heater is 199,000 btu's, hope that helps a little.
