Near-north Ontario, French River | Pa's cousin was probably stretching the truth a bit LOL To the best of my knowledge carriers at the end of WWII didnt have catapult systems, and even if they did a jeep wouldnt be tossed anywhere near that distance. Even on a modern nuke carrier I'd bet even an tricked out jeep wouldn't launch much farther then a couple hundred feet at most. I dont doubt the story about drving dozers off the deck though. Same thing happened at the end of vietnam war, excess equipment,including helo's and jets ,was tossed into the ocean when US forces left the region, its Ive seen footage of it many times on the history channel. |
