So, old bones.... you are giving the hay away.... the guy you are giving it to is responsible for mowing and baling... and YOU are concerned about the quality?   What does the guy who is getting the hay think about the quality?  I  think he would be the one who would be concerned about the quality.  If the quality is suitable for him, how does that affect - or concern - you?

Maybe getting hay that is not rained on is more important to him than the maturity of the hay?

I think that would be his decision.

 


Because if the grass is going to be worthless as far as feed quality, I'll just mow it and leave it. The quality doesn't really concern me, but if he can use it, it helps him (free hay) and me (no cost to mow it, and it's gone).

It may be his decision as to whether the quality is there, but it's my concern as to whether the water will flow.
Normally, it's been cut and baled (first cutting) by the middle of May.
