SW OH | Put the tin on top of what's already there. Saves time, no mess to clean up, and if your tin ever gets a leak there old roof might catch it.
We've done 3 roofs this way. First 2 we screwed the tin straight down to the sheeting underneath the shingles. Last one, my current house, we used 2x4s on their side to fasten the tin to. 6 inch screws through the 2x4s to the rafters. Some of the sheeting would not hold screws directly. That was 11 years ago.
