To properly install steel over that many layers would require 5" screws for the 2x4s. Terminations to roof/wall intersections would be a disaster.
Shingles will be your best bet financially. Barn steel comes in 2nd but again doesn't mesh with any current roof/wall flashing and will require siding removal. I know you mentioned new siding so that may not matter. | |
