Depending on what part of the country you are in, piling beans might actually be a viable solution.... around here , the Great Lakes region , where our falls often have rainy periods it would be extremely risk. I know if we leave beans in the auger hopper we usually end up dumping a slimy mess out within a couple days. Maybe someplace like Texas ( is it dry there in the fall?? lol) with low humidity it works great.
