I'm not saying they make this much, but on average, we pick up 30-40 cents in basis by selling our grain to a broker (who I am sure is taking 3-5 cents off the top), that sells straight to end users. That's picked up at our bins and we aren't doing anything "value added" either. Elevators also charge double what it takes to dry the grain, are able to blend higher quality stuff with the crap that comes in.



The key there is the broker has no overhead in it.

the elevator has to handle it. Dump, store, loadout, etc. Then taxes, interest etc.

Now with that being said my facility has by far been the best ROI.
