WC Mn/Dakotas | That is intersting, but is not related to any real world situation. The sun comes up and radiation is more than air temperature. The sun sets and cold sets in, soil moisture and texture will influence the rate change. In my soil frost may still be at 16" - 24" depth or more. Capillary action moves that thawed fridgid moisture up toward the surface. Cold germination of seed plays a role. Uniform depth plays a role. Uniform seed to soil and soil moisture plays a role. I have had soil temp sensors in the ground at 1", 2", 6", 10"....to 46" for 3 years now. Definitely interesting. Did emergence stands on 600 plants last year on 3 fields and 3 planters.
Need uniform gdu accumulation, seed vigor and soil furrow to allow opportunity for roots to function above all. This is where tools like PP has can help a proficient operator do better day in and day out. Immediately alerted to when they need to make adjustments or stop and fix. Never having an excuse for not getting 98-100% accuracy. | |
