Do you get 1"+ variation? Thats an awful lot. I think this depth test was about time to emerge in general, not trying to simulate actual planter depth variation necessarily.

And it is an interesting test. However, it only suggests that when soil temps are that warm and consistent 24/7, that you get emergence within a 12hr span from 1.5-3" of depth. Its really more of a lab test type of warm germination. Its ignoring most any real world conditions especially cold germination.

Everyone that isnt planting corn into minimum 55+ degree soils should be doing a cold germ test before planting season. If test turns out poor, you should return it.
