One version is the cow that licks the newborn calf normally but every time the calf attempts to stand the cow nails it aggressively with its head.
I had a bunch of lovely Retail Product heifers that calved that way. (Totally agree about EXT, and he was on the maternal side of that bull.) Some repeated that behavior for a year or two but eventually grew out of it.
In my book, there is absolutely nothing good about a beef cow that abuses it's calf....for whatever reason. (Unless the slaughter cow market is strong and your short on cash!) |
