Wyoming | I believe there is a genetic line in the breed that creates this problem, possibly from EXT. I calve over 100 heifers a year, and will get one of these heifers maybe once every 2-3 yrs. I have cousins that used to fight this problem in their angus herd to the point It was occurring in their cows of all ages. They finally started culling these cows, and I believe the problem mostly disappeared in a couple years.
Life is short, no need keeping a cow that will use up your time and possibly injure you or the calf. | |
