Had one do that for the first time last fall. I was told that their hormones are going crazy and they don’t know what’s going on and need some time to settle down. Once you can get the calf sucking it releases another hormone and calms the mom down because she knows what’s going on now. I decided to pull the calf, give colostrum supplement and reintroduce the pair the following day and the calf took right to the mom and she was a good momma since.
