Yes it works good for deer. Never tested it much with elk. At our other ranch we have deer and elk problems, but not this many head number. We have hay sheds there and can support sides with wood panels, and also wood slabs put up permanent around barns.

Big game will eat a day:

Mule deer 5.6 lbs.
Elk 16.6 lbs.
Antelope 5.6 lbs.
Moose 28.0 lbs.

However they will waste over 25% when bedding or tearing stacks down. The Mule deer have learned to jump up on top of neighbors 5'x6' round bales at his place I should have took pics of that. They totally wrap some ton bales stacks with tarps in this country from weather. Where they are totally sealed, I haven't seen any wildlife get into those.
